Terms
Last updated 28 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Pixel Witch for using Furkin. Please read them. By creating an account or using Furkin, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Furkin.
About these terms
Furkin (the app and the website at furkin.app) is provided by Pixel Witch, a sole proprietorship based in The Hague, the Netherlands, KvK 96974990. In these terms, "we" and "us" means Pixel Witch, and "you" means the person using Furkin.
Our privacy policy explains how we handle your personal data. It is part of how Furkin works, so please read it too.
Who can use Furkin
- You must be at least 16 years old.
- You must give accurate information when you create your account.
- You may only use Furkin for personal, non-commercial purposes, such as caring for your own pets or pets you look after with family, friends or sitters.
Your account
You are responsible for keeping access to your account secure, including your email account and your Apple or Google sign-in. Tell us straight away at lisa@pixelwitch.dev if you think someone else has accessed your account. You are responsible for what happens through your account unless it was caused by our failure.
You can delete your account at any time in the app under Settings.
Households and roles
Furkin is built around Households: private shared spaces where people care for pets together.
- The Household owner creates the Household, decides who to invite and assigns roles. The owner is responsible for the people they invite and for what those people can see and change.
- Only invite people you trust. Members can see the Household's pets, routines, health records, documents, contacts and activity logs, within the limits of their role. Members with editing rights can change or delete shared information.
- Leaving a Household: you can leave at any time. Pets and records you added stay with the Household, so the other members can keep caring for the pets.
- If the owner leaves or deletes their account, they must first transfer ownership to another member or delete the Household.
- Disagreements between members, for example about who should have access to a pet's records, are for the members to resolve. We are not able to decide who a pet belongs to.
Your content
"Your content" means everything you add to Furkin, such as pet profiles, photos, documents, notes and activity logs.
- You own your content. We do not claim ownership of it.
- You give us permission to use it only to run Furkin: to store it, back it up, process it, and show it to the members of your Household. This permission is worldwide, free of charge and ends when your content is deleted, except for copies in backups that are deleted on their normal schedule.
- You are responsible for your content. Only upload things you have the right to share, and only add information about other people, such as a vet's phone number or a photo of a friend, when it is fair to do so.
Acceptable use
Use Furkin to coordinate care for the pets in your Household. You must not:
- use Furkin to harm, harass or threaten people or animals;
- use it to plan, record or hide animal cruelty or neglect;
- break the law, or upload anything illegal or that infringes someone else's rights;
- upload malware, or try to hack, overload or disrupt Furkin;
- try to access Households, accounts or data that are not yours;
- copy, scrape, reverse engineer or resell Furkin, except where the law allows it;
- create accounts automatically or in bulk, or pretend to be someone else.
If you see illegal content or misuse, report it to lisa@pixelwitch.dev.
Not veterinary advice
Furkin is a care log and coordination tool. It is not veterinary advice and it does not replace a vet.
- Information in Furkin, including routines, medication schedules, weights and reminders, is entered by you and your Household members. We do not check whether it is correct.
- Reminders depend on your device, its settings, your internet connection and services from Apple and Google. They can be delayed or missed. Do not rely on Furkin alone for medication or other care that is important to your pet's health.
- If a pet is unwell or needs medical help, contact a vet. In an emergency, contact an emergency vet straight away.
Plans and prices
Furkin has three plans:
| Plan | Price | What is included |
|---|---|---|
| Free | Free | 1 person and 1 pet |
| Duo | 5 euros per month | 1 Household, 2 people, unlimited pets and 1 sitter |
| Family | 10 euros per month | Up to 4 Households, unlimited people, unlimited pets and 4 sitters in total across all Households |
- Prices include VAT for customers in the Netherlands. In other countries, the App Store or Google Play may show the price in your local currency, including local taxes, so the exact amount can differ slightly.
- Who pays: the subscription belongs to the person who buys it, usually the Household owner. Other members and sitters invited to that Household do not need their own subscription.
- Payment and renewal: subscriptions are bought through Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) and paid through your account there. They renew automatically each month until you cancel. You can cancel at any time in your App Store or Google Play account settings, at least 24 hours before the next renewal. After cancelling, your plan stays active until the end of the period you already paid for.
- Refunds: refund requests are handled by Apple or Google under their rules, because they process the payment.
- Right of withdrawal: as a consumer in the EU, you normally have 14 days to withdraw from an online purchase. Because a subscription gives you access to Furkin immediately, you are asked to agree to the service starting straight away, and you lose the right of withdrawal once it has started, as allowed by EU consumer law.
- Changing or ending your plan: if you move to a smaller plan, or your subscription ends, nothing in your Household is deleted. You keep read access to all of it, but you cannot add more people, pets, sitters or Households than your new plan allows until you upgrade or remove some.
- Price changes: if we change the price of a plan, we will tell you in advance. Apple and Google will also notify you and, where their rules or the law require it, ask you to agree before the new price applies. If you do not agree, you can cancel before the change takes effect.
- Plan changes: we may add features to plans. We will not remove a major feature from a paid plan you are subscribed to without telling you in advance.
Early access and availability
Furkin is new and is being actively developed. Some features may change, be added or be removed over time, and early access versions may contain bugs.
We do our best to keep Furkin available and your data safe, but we cannot promise that Furkin will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free. We may need to pause it for maintenance or updates. We recommend keeping your own copies of important documents, such as vaccination certificates.
If we ever decide to stop offering Furkin, we will tell you at least 60 days in advance where possible, and give you a way to export your data.
Ending your use of Furkin
- You can stop using Furkin and delete your account at any time.
- We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if the law requires it, or if your use puts other users, animals or Furkin at risk. Where it is reasonable, we will warn you first, explain why, and give you a chance to fix the problem or export your data.
After your account is closed, your data is handled as described in the privacy policy.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer under mandatory Dutch or EU law.
- We are responsible for damage caused by our intent or gross negligence (opzet of bewuste roekeloosheid), and for death or personal injury caused by our fault. We do not limit this liability.
- Apart from that, we are not responsible for indirect or consequential damage, such as lost data that you could have saved elsewhere, or costs caused by a missed or late reminder.
- Apart from that, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us for Furkin in the 12 months before the damage occurred, or 100 euros if that is higher.
- We are not responsible for what Household members do, for information entered by you or other members, or for decisions about your pet's care made based on that information.
- We are not responsible for problems caused by things outside our reasonable control, such as outages at Apple, Google or our hosting providers, internet failures, or your device's settings.
App Store and Google Play
If you downloaded Furkin from Apple's App Store:
- these terms are between you and Pixel Witch, not Apple. Pixel Witch, not Apple, is responsible for Furkin and its content;
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Furkin;
- if Furkin does not meet any applicable warranty, you can notify Apple and Apple may refund the purchase price, if any. To the extent allowed by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for Furkin;
- Pixel Witch, not Apple, is responsible for handling any claims about Furkin, such as product liability claims, claims that it does not meet legal or regulatory requirements, consumer protection claims, and claims that Furkin infringes someone's intellectual property rights;
- you confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a US government embargo and are not on any US government list of prohibited or restricted parties;
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
If you downloaded Furkin from Google Play, Google Play's terms of service also apply to your download and any purchases.
Our intellectual property
Furkin, its design, code, name and logo belong to Pixel Witch. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Furkin app on devices you own or control, under these terms. You may not use the Furkin name or logo without our permission.
Feedback
If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them to improve Furkin without any obligation to you.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms when Furkin changes or the law requires it. The date at the top shows when they last changed. If we make important changes, we will tell you in the app or by email at least 30 days before they take effect. If you do not agree with the changes, you can delete your account before they take effect. If you keep using Furkin after that, the new terms apply.
Dutch law and disputes
Dutch law applies to these terms. If you live in another EU country, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of that country.
If you have a complaint, please email lisa@pixelwitch.dev first so we can try to solve it together. We aim to respond within 14 days.
If we cannot resolve it, disputes go to the competent court in the Netherlands. As a consumer, you may also bring a claim in the courts of the EU country where you live.
General
- If any part of these terms turns out to be invalid, the rest still applies.
- If we do not enforce a right straight away, we have not given it up.
- You may not transfer your rights under these terms to someone else. We may transfer our rights and obligations to another company if Furkin changes owner, as long as your rights under these terms are not reduced. We will tell you if this happens.
